Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Tools to let you create & maintain your group website

The website tools (links on the right) will let you create and manage a website for your online group. When a new website is created it is automatically added at the top of the list of websites at the bottom of this page and also on the group list page. Your website can have multiple pages and you can also upload graphics that you want to incorporate in the pages.

If you need full domain hosting for a registered domain this can be set up for you. Please us the contact page to make your request.

Before you create your website

If you create a website you should have your webpages ready to upload as soon as possible. You can use whatever software you like to create your pages but they need to be saved on your own computer so you can upload them.

Creating your website

When you click on the 'CREATE WEBSITE' link you will then fill in a little form. Here is how the details you supply will be used.

Username
The username is used to create the URL for your website. For example, if you choose a username of just4today then your website address will be www.aaonline.org.uk/just4today
Your username should not contain any spaces or punctuation marks and it is a good idea to keep it quite short. You will also need to use it later when you log in to update your website.
Password
Your password can contain letters and numbers but no spaces. It is better to avoid punctuation marks as well as some are not allowed. You will need your password to log in and update your web pages.
Email
This is for the email address of your group contact. It does not appear anywhere on your own website or the AA Online website. It is simply needed so that AA Online can contact you if necessary. Please enter your email address very carefully. If you enter it wrongly then AA Online will be unable to contact you, and under some circumstances it may become necessary to remove your website.
Real Name
The software requires that you enter something here, but you do not need to give your name. What you type here does not appear anywhere on your own website or the AA Online website.
Site description
This is what will appear as linked text in the list of online group websites on AA Online's pages. You should enter the name of your group here. Just the name of your group, nothing else.

Can You Help?

If you are a sober AA member and have experience in creating websites then you can volunteer to help by creating group websites for those groups who want a website but can't do it themselves. Contact AA Online and volunteer your service in this way.
